The beautiful Sun

While I was visiting Shivpuri (read my earlier post http://sudhir-chauhan.blogspot.com/2011/02/shivpuri-madhya-pradesh.html), I came across some beautiful scene created by Sun which was going down and giving way to darkness and we call this Sunset.

I could not resist my temptation of sharing those pics with you all. these pictures were taken from while boating in Sakya Sagar lake, (courtesy Madhya Pradesh Tourism) .

Nature is marvelous, its poetry in itself. The golden water of Sakya Sagar Lake created by Life Giver SUN is magical. This is a scene which can be enjoyed countless times............ The more I see nature the more I get mystical about it ..... Love for Nature keeps on increasing......

Shivpuri - Madhya Pradesh

Shivpuri is a district in Madhya Pradesh which is about 100 kms from Jhansi. It was hunting ground of Moghul Emperors. Akbar caught herd of Elephants from here for his army. Later it became summer of Scindias of Gwalior and was also there hunting ground. At one time Tigers use to roam this place, but alas all perished, courtesy, so called 'Royal Shikaris'.

Today it is preserved area and the area is called Madhav National Park. The area of the park is about 157.58 sq. km.

How to Reach

By Road: You can drive up to Gwalior and from here take road to Shivpuri. And the distance is about 436 kms and it will take close to 9 hours. The road from Gwalior to Shivpuri is not that good. The route is New Delhi -  Faridabad - Mathura - Agra - Morena - Gwalior - Shivpuri.

By Train: You can Shatabdi Express till Jhansi. From Jhansi it is about 100 kms and taxi charges about INR 1200. The road is excellent and the view magnificent.

The property is good and staff very co-operative and friendly. I visited the place in 2010 and 2011. Mr. Vipin Katare, who is the manager arranged everything for us. It is very difficult to find such care and co-operation in a Government owned property.

Madhav National Park: Though it does not offer much of wild life, but is a very good experience of nature and forest. I could spot many birds here, besides a herd of Spotted deer, Blackbuck, Sambhar, Nilgai, Jackal, Monitor Lizard, Panther and yes Crocodile. The park has 2 big lakes which attract lot of birds in the winter season, Chandpata and Sakya Sagar.

Jim Corbett

Jim Corbett National Park in India is the most talked about, when it comes to Tiger's. I visit this park regulary and every year. This year I visited this park from 25th till 28th November (2010). Though the park has an estimated population of about 145 tigers, but the sighting is very difficult as the park is very large and forest is dense. For the past 2 years I have not been able to sight a single Tiger.

This year I choose Durga Devi and Bijrani zone for the safari. Durga Devi zone is a hilly area and as it was morning safari, their was not much wild life to be seen except for some spotted dear and. We went to Bijrani zone in the afternoon safari. Though we could not sight any tiger but deers like Spotted, Sambhar etc could be seen. Lot of pug marks of tiger on every route gave us a satisfaction that the king still roams the jungle.

Jim Corbett - Ever Lasting Experience

I am compelled to share my experience once I visited Jim Corbett Natioanl Park at Ramnagar in Uttaranchal. I got so much involved with this place because of its beautiful landscape and wonderful forest. I must admit that it is must visit place every year and heaven for nature lovers.

Jim Corbett is situated at a distance of 280 kms from New Delhi, and can be visited by road, train or plane also. It is situated in the foothills of himalayas and is enriched by rivers like Ramganga, Sonanadi, Kosi, Mandal, Palain. These are small himalayan rivers and not very deep, but they form a wonderful landscape which will bring you again and again at this mystic place.

How to Reach?

By Road: 280 kms from New Delhi
Delhi - Gazhiabad - Hapur - Gajraula - Moradabd - Kashipur - Ramnagar - Corbett
By Train :
Ranikhet Express from Old Delhi - Dep at 10.40 pm arrival at 6 am at Ramnagar

If you are going by road, leave early and have your breakfast at wonderful Dhabas at Gajraula (Mouthwatering)

Staying at Corbett

Their are 2 options - Inside the forest or outside the forest. Inside the forest are located Forest Rest House (FRH) and outside are wonderful private resorts. If you are keen admirer of nature and want to see it closely I will suggest that you stay inside the forest at FRH. But you need to book in advance as they have limited capacity.

Second option is to book a resort. Believe me they are wonderful. Few of them are situated on the bank of rivers and some on the outskirts of the forest. Their are packages available for 2 night and 3 days and most of the resorts are helpful enough to arrange everything for you - Forest Safari, Taxi etc.

What to do their

Million dollar question. Remember the saying "Nature is Beautiful, Lets not Play with it". To add to it "Lets Enjoy It". Corbett is all about nature. Dont go their with only one intention - To See Tiger (its a difficult preposition), but if you are a ardent nature lover, you will enjoy each and everything their. You can go for Jungle Safari, Jungle Walk,
